Wightlink’s new flagship has undergone three days of sea trials in Turkey, weeks before it is expected to arrive in the Solent.

Victoria of Wight will come into service after the summer and the evacuation plan has now been tested, with the crew using inflatable slides to get into the life rafts.

The boat will be the flagship of the cross-Solent firm’s fleet.

A drencher system, which covers both the lower and upper car decks has also been tested. It sprays water on the decks in the event on an emergency.

Wightlink Chief Executive Keith Greenfield said,

“This is a very exciting time for everyone at Wightlink and for the Isle of Wight as our new flagship, Victoria of Wight, performs her sea trials. We look forward to welcoming her to her new home this summer and giving everyone the chance to experience the best in cross Solent ferry travel.”
