Isle of Wight’s ‘Wightlink’ Warriors bounced back from their seven-race losing streak with a 46-44 home victory over Plymouth ‘Devils’ last night (Tues).

After losing 36-54 to the same opposition in the National League Trophy last week (8), Warriors were eager to get their revenge at Smallbrook Stadium.

And they did just that this time around, thanks partly to new signing Alfie Bowtell. The Essex based charger got Warriors off to a flying start with his opening ride – the first of five winning races on the way to a 17 point haul.

However, after subsequently falling two points behind in heat 11, Warriors saw their chance for a comeback.

The visitors suffered a setback after Adam Roynon crashed into the fence after his throttle jammed. The Devil’s rider dislocated his shoulder and broke his humorous, before later being taken to hospital.

New-boy Bowtell then claimed three wins in the closing five heats, with Ben Morley and Chris Widman seeing Warriors over the line.
