Billed as a 17-seater eco-friendly tourist attraction, the world’s first BoRo pedal bike will roll into Ryde this summer and a second one is expected in Cowes later in the year.
It looks like a beach hut and passengers will be offered the chance to take part in on-board activities while pedalling up and down the seafront.
In Ryde, it will take in stops at Ryde Pier Head, Ryde Superbowl, Appley and Puckpool Park.
The commercial project will be launched eight years after budget cuts spelled the end of the popular dotto trains, which transported tourists along roads in Ryde, Sandown and Shanklin.
Welcoming the new business, Isle of Wight Council’s cabinet member for tourism Cllr Wayne Whittle said:
“…It reminded me of the old Dotto Train – only this time it’s pedal assisted with green credentials.”
