Isle of Wight residents are being asked to rally together today (Sunday) in order to raise money for Cowes’ tennis courts.
The courts, which have been a staple of Northwood House since being built in 1930, are in desperate need of restoration.
In a bid to raise the required funds, a day of events will be served up on Northwood’s grounds.
From 2 pm tennis lovers can participate in a tournament and from 6 pm onwards there will be live music, a hog roast and a bar.
The organiser of the event, Gillian Corby, says the courts are in need of desperate work:
“A lot of people on the Island will know that the Northwood House Park was given to the people of Cowes so it’s a free facility. If we don’t do something the fence will fall down. If you don’t have a fence you can’t play tennis.”
