The Isle of Wight is marking 70 years of the NHS with a birthday bash this afternoon (Sunday).

A summer fete will take over St Mary’s Hospital Lake, featuring star attractions and appearances from the Ambulance Service’s special 999 vehicles and a visit from Star Wars characters.

It is ahead of the NHS’ big 70th birthday on Thursday (5).

There will be free parking while the event is held, between 11am and 3pm.
