Boris Johnson has today (Monday) resigned as Foreign Secretary, Downing Street has confirmed.

The announcement comes after Brexit Secretary David Davis also announced he is stepping down from the government last night (Sunday).

Prime Minister Theresa May has been speaking in the House of Commons this afternoon and has paid tribute to the pair for their work over the last two years.

Isle of Wight MP Bob Seely said Mrs May is looking “composed” and is “speaking well” considering what she “has been through”.

Mr Davis has since been replaced by housing minister Dominic Raab.

An announcement on Mr Johnson’s replacement is expected shortly.
