The Isle of Wight Athletic Club has a brand new kit – after 25 years of sporting the same one.

The club, which is based in Sandown, has around 180 members who compete at all levels around the country.

Those members now don black and gold kits when taking part in athletic events.

However, it’s not the only new item of clothing they’ll wear. They have also been supplied with vibrant yellow vests.

Their fresh look has come thanks to a £2,000 donation from ferry-operator Wightlink.

Ray Scovell, one of the senior coaches at the Isle of Wight Athletic Club, says:

“We are very grateful to Wightlink for supporting the club. Without this donation, it wouldn’t have been possible to upgrade our kit. The new vibrant yellow vests certainly make our athletes more prominent at events and easier to spot when they are out in front leading their races!”
