Chillerton and Rookley primary school ‘Requires improvement’, according to its latest Ofsted inspection.
Following a visit last month, inspectors say insufficient progress and a weakness in phonics teaching are among the challenges faced by the school.
In a report published today (Wednesday), parents are told that outcomes in mathematics are inconsistent and the teaching of basic skills is not effective.
However, action is being taken to improve say inspectors and children feel safe and happy.
Ofsted says the school has not enjoyed stable leadership for some time, but its report says the interim leadership, secured by the local authority, has been strong.
