People fighting to see Ryde Arena reopen are linking around the rink today (Saturday).

It marks two years since AEW locked up the rink, which was once home to the Island’s ice hockey, synchronised skating and figure skating teams.

Campaigners will be joined by Isle of Wight MP Bob Seely, and music by Jukebox Jazz from 10.30am until 11.15am.

Cameron Palin has been fighting to get the arena back since its closure in 2016.

He said:

“Obviously we are all still upset that AEW has done this to the community but we’ve got the passion and we’ve still got the fight within us. We are going to get this ice rink back.”
