Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat is celebrating receiving national recognition.

It has been made a Royal Life Saving Society UK Honorary Associate.

The honour was presented to Operations Manager Mark Birch during a ceremony at Worcester Cathedral on Saturday (13), where many of the Royal Life Saving Society UK’s thousands of volunteers were recognised for the outstanding contribution they make, to help to keep people safe in, on and near water.

As reported by Isle of Wight Radio, Ryde Inshore Rescue is also celebrating receiving the recognition.
