Football returned for the Island’s sides this weekend, with the teams hoping to improve on last week’s poor results.
In the Sydenhams Wessex Premier League, Cowes Sports managed to bounce back from their 7-1 thrashing at the hands of Bashley – but could only settle for a 1-1 draw at home to Tadley Calleva.
Meanwhile, in Division One, East Cowes Vics were hammered for the second week running – suffering a 7-0 defeat to Laverstock and Ford.
But, Newport picked themselves up from last week’s defeat to win 1-0 away at Whitchurch United.
Cowes Sports fall to 15th in the Premier Division.
Newport remain in 8th and East Cowes Vics slide to 12th in Division One.
In the Hampshire County Womens Football League, Cowes Ladies continued their poor run losing 4-0 at the hands of Winchester City Flyers.
Meanwhile, East Cowes Vics Ladies returned to action after weather called off their last game but they lost 2-1 to United Services of Portsmouth.
And, Shanklin Ladies’ did not have the chance to bounce back from their 13-0 defeat last time around.
Their match against Basingstoke was called off.
Cowes Ladies sit bottom of the table in 13th, whilst East Cowes Vics Ladies are in 11th.
Shanklin Ladies lie in 7th in the Southern Region Women’s Football League – First Southern.
