Hampshire could play first class cricket on the Isle of Wight in 2019.
It’s understood the County Championship side could use Newclose Cricket Ground as a temporary home, while the Ageas Bowl is used for five games at the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
Basingstoke is another option reportedly being considered.
Newclose, on the outskirts of Newport, has previously hosted Hampshire 2nds matches.
Hampshire Chairman, Rod Bransgrove, told The Cricketer magazine:
“We are looking very favourably at Newclose on the Isle of Wight and at Basingstoke.
“Our staff have been in touch with both Newclose and Basingstoke management but no deals are done yet.”
