This weekend saw the Isle of Wight’s first-ever women’s football derby take place, as Cowes Ladies took on the newly-formed East Cowes Vics Ladies.

In what was a close-knit encounter, Cowes Ladies managed to edge out their arch-rivals in the Hampshire County Women’s Football League.

They grabbed a 1-0 win – their first of the season – thanks to a Charlotte Skeggs goal.

Cowes Ladies move up to 10th and East Cowes Vics Ladies sit in 12th.

Meanwhile, it wasn’t the best of days for Shanklin Ladies who were hammered 7-nil by Warsash Wasps.

Shanklin Ladies lie in 8th in the Southern Region Women’s Football League – First Southern.

In the Wessex Premier League, Cowes Sports lost 3-0 to Bournemouth.

And, in Division One Newport lost 5-3 away at Downton.

East Cowes Vics failed to pick up any points either, losing 3-2 in their game away at United Services of Portsmouth.
