Wet and windy weather is battering the Isle of Wight again this morning (Thursday), and with it comes a weather warning and travel disruption.

Weather warning

A yellow weather warning for wind has been issued by the Met Office, which says there is ‘a very small chance of very strong and disruptive winds’.

The weather warning is in place until 5pm this afternoon.

Gusts of 80mph have been recorded at the Needles.

According to the Bramble Met weather buoy force 9 gusts have been detected in the Solent.


Those gusts are causing disruption in the Solent and on the roads today.

Hovertravel services have resumed.

While Southern Vectis’ Route 12 will is not operating over Military Road between Brook Chine and Freshwater Bay and is diverting instead.

Wightlink’s Lymington Yarmouth route faced cancellations earlier.

While Wighlink’s Yarmouth to Lymington car ferry service is now running on time.
