The Maritime Accident Investigation Branch says it has started an investigation into today’s (Friday’s) fire on board Wightlink’s Wight Sky.

It is the third time the ferry has caught fire in two years.

The MAIB says there was a “machinery space fire” while the ferry was at the entrance to Lymington river.

Multiple mainland fire crews were called to the port this morning.

As Isle of Wight Radio reported earlier, no-one was hurt. Services are suspended and we are awaiting an update at 12pm.
