Here are some of the stories that were making the headlines on the Isle of Wight in February 2018.

Drivers across the Isle of Wight and Hampshire were urged not to travel unless absolutely necessary, as heavy snow was expected to fall.

Several yellow and amber weather warnings for snow, ice and wind were put in place for the Isle of Wight.

The update followed earlier snow warnings for the Island.

A mother from Ryde says she was made to feel “embarrassed and upset” when being asked to leave a Wetherspoons for failing to settle her crying baby.

Reyanna Barrier was at S. Fowler & Co on Union Street in Ryde with her sister and her 11-month-old child, when she claims she was told to leave because her baby – who is deaf -was crying.

Wetherspoon disputed the claims.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a flying man on the Isle of Wight. No, seriously it is.

Spinlock in Cowes captured footage of the incredible feat. But, fear not, the stunt was planned.

It was carried out by Richard Browning from Gravity, who has been working with Spinlock to ensure he has the right lifejacket while he tests his human propulsion technology over water.
