Here are some of the stories which made the news headlines on the Isle of Wight in July 2018.

 

The Isle of Wight was bracing itself for a Heatwave after the Met Office issued a weather warning.

Forecasters warned of heatwave conditions in parts of the UK, and raised the alert level to 3 – one below a national emergency – because of prolonged high temperatures in The Midlands, eastern and south-eastern England.

The multi-million pounds superyacht, Elandess, was been spotted moored up off the Isle of Wight.

UK billionaire Sir Lloyd Dorfman is thought to be the owner of the stunning 242ft yacht Elandess.

Mr Dorfman is the founder of the London based currency exchange company, Travelex.

The Duchess of Cornwall arrived on the Isle of Wight for her Royal Visit.

The Duchess arrived on Queen Victoria’s private beach at Osborne where she was met by Dame Judi Dench – the patron of the Friends of Osborne and curator of Osborne House, Michael Hunter.

The Duchess toured various parts of the estate including the Swiss Cottage where she met members of staff and volunteers.
