Here are some of the stories that were making the headlines on the Isle of Wight in October 2018.

A video emerged showing the inside of the derelict Harcourt Sands at Puckpool, near Ryde.

The footage shows the swimming pool area of the former holiday park, which appears to be in, surprisingly, very good condition.

The video has been shot by urban explorers – Abandoned Isle of Wight – who have explored many Isle of Wight sites and former attractions.

Christ The King College in Carisbrooke is ‘Inadequate’, according to Ofsted.

Inspectors visited the Isle of Wight’s secondary-level faith school during the summer term.

The school has consistently been rated ‘Good’ since it opened in 2008.

The remains of a yacht, hit – and destroyed – by a Red Funnel ferry – were lifted form the sea.

The Red Falcon – inbound to the Isle of Wight – came to a stop just a hundred yards from East Cowes Esplanade – way off its usual docking route, after colliding with yachts.

It prompted a major response from emergency services, Solent Coastguard, local coastguard and other maritime teams on the Isle of Wight.
