East Cowes Vics will go head to head against local rivals Newport FC at home for the first time in almost 30 years on Saturday.

Only one place separates the two sides in Division One of the Sydenhams Wessex League – with Newport sitting in 10th thanks to a greater goal difference.

Both teams go into the game on steady form too.

Port claimed a 2-2 draw with Totton and Eling in their last league fixture (22) and Vics ran home 2-0 winners away at New Milton.

The two sides also met at St George’s Park back in August. They took a share of the spoils then with the game finishing 2-2.

Tomorrow’s kick off is at 3pm at Beatrice Avenue.
