“Try other Islands” says Isle of Wight MP Bob Seely, who has tweeted “thanks, but no thanks” to an MEP’s suggestion that the Isle of Wight should house an immigration detention centre.
Patrick O’Flynn tweeted,
“Illegal migrants coming from France shouldn’t be allowed on UK mainland. Suggest detention centre on Isle of Wight next to one of its jails.”
Mr O’Flynn is a former UKIP member but now represents the Social Democratic Party and is a member of the European Parliament for the East of England.
In response Bob Seely said,
“Thanks, but no thanks. Land taken with plans for green village. Old Prison beyond use. Suggest try Islands that may en route.” [sic]
