Former Islander Gary Rowett has been sacked as the manager of Stoke City after less than a year in charge.
Rowett grew up on the Isle of Wight, spending 10 years here between the ages of six and 16.
He was born in Bromsgrove near Birmingham but attended Cowes High School on the Island.
His father, Eric, worked at the former Camp Hill site – now HMP Isle of Wight.
Rowett was appointed as Stoke boss in May last year. However, the Potters have failed to win in four.
His dismissal comes off the back of a 1-1 draw with League One side Shrewsbury in the FA Cup Third Round on Saturday (5).
Rowett leaves Stoke 14th in the Championship.
Coaches Rory Delap, Kevin Russell and Andy Quy will take charge of first-team affairs.
