Police are appealing for help to find missing Isle of Wight woman Charlotte Birch who disappeared yesterday (Wednesday).

As reported by Isle of Wight Radio last night, 44-year-old Charlotte Birch, also known as Charlotte Alder, from Shanklin, went missing from St Mary’s Hospital yesterday afternoon, before she was discharged.

Officers have spent the night looking for her and are now turning to you for your help as you head out this morning.

Charlotte left the hospital before she was discharged so police are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare.

The Isle of Wight’s Wight SAR (search and rescue) team have been deployed.

She left on foot and was last seen wearing a black speckled cardigan, a pink top and green trousers, which were provided by the hospital, and black boots with a fur trim.

She is described as being white, 5ft 6ins tall, f a slim built with shoulder length brown hair and wears glasses.

*HM Coastguard has told Isle of Wight Radio its rescue helicopter was called to assist in the search at 3.16am this morning (Thursday). The helicopter carried out a sweep between Newport and Cowes. It was stood down at 5.30am.

 

**The search is focusing on Newport. Wight SAR are searching the grounds of St Mary’s Hospital.
