The search is continuing for missing Shanklin woman Charlotte Birch who disappeared yesterday (Wednesday).
Police say a ‘few sightings’ have been reported on a path between Matalan in Newport, Shide and Arreton.
As reported by Isle of Wight Radio last night, 44-year-old Charlotte Birch, also known as Charlotte Alder, from Shanklin, went missing from St Mary’s Hospital yesterday afternoon.
She left the hospital before she was discharged.
HM Coastguard carried out a search at 3.16am this morning before being stood down at 5.30am.
Wight SAR has also searched the grounds of St Mary’s Hospital today and a police helicopter has been circling the skies over Newport this afternoon.
Charlotte is described as being white, 5ft 6ins tall, of a slim built with shoulder length brown hair and wears glasses.

Posting on Twitter, Isle of Wight Police said:
“As our search continues for missing Charlotte Burch this evening we’ve had another sighting in the
#Rookley area, btwn 7.15pm and 8.15pm last night.”[sic]
Maggie Oldham, Chief Executive Officer at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust, told Isle of Wight Radio:
“We are working closely with the police to try and locate Charlotte’s whereabouts as we are concerned for her welfare, and just want to know she is safe.
“We appreciate everyone’s efforts in searching for her and we hope that she is found soon and gets the appropriate care that she needs.”
