How much are you willing to pay towards the cost of policing on the Isle of Wight?
Currently, Band D properties pay a police precept of £177.46 per year, as part of their council tax. That figure could go up to £201.46, if the Hampshire Police and Crime Commissioner’s proposals are given the go-ahead.
How much more could you be paying?
A survey looking for views on how much people are willing to contribute towards the cost of policing locally closes at midnight tonight (Saturday).
Police and Crime Commissioner, Michael Lane, says all of the money that comes from any rise will go to support local policing, and an increase of £24 per year would ‘ensure there will be no reduction in policing in the Hampshire Constabulary area’.
