The ‘largest sponsored walk of its kind in Europe’ sees thousands of people walking 26 miles from Bembridge to Alum Bay. Tens of thousands of pounds are raised for vital end-of-life and hospice care.
Islander Perdita Dusgate from Northwood lost her husband to a brain tumour. David was cared for at the hospice and Perdita is encouraging us to take part. She said:
“[David] was an amazing man and determined to take our son to school on his first day.
“Sadly, that was not to be. He was able to take him to his first day of preschool.
“To this day I cannot thank the wonderful people of Mountbatten enough for everything they have done for me and my family.
“By walking the Wight we can help to raise funds to know that they can continue to care for many more in the future.”
The 26 mile trek is on Sunday 12 May. Sign-up online or call 01983 217300 for more information.
