Fares for some Isle of Wight taxis could go up for the first time since 2015.
If approved, the cost of travelling in a Hackney Carriage – these are hailed by passengers rather than pre-booked – could go up to £1.90 per mile.
While the initial cost of hailing a taxi, known as a flag drop, could also increase by 50p.
The proposal could also see ‘Tariff 2′ – the third most expensive fares – come into force at the earlier time of 8pm.
Tariff 2 fares also apply on bank and public holidays.
The planned hike in charges will go before the Isle of Wight Council’s Licensing Committee at 4pm tonight (Monday).
