We are hearing reports of a crash on the Middle Road near to Tapnell Farm this evening (Thursday).
Isle of Wight Radio understands treacherous conditions have caused the collision in the Calbourne area.
Listeners say some cars have also been abandoned on the road.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the West Wight and only drive if absolutely necessary.
*Isle of Wight police are appealing for those with 4x4s to assist drivers in the Shalfleet area.

Island Roads is reporting that two trees have fallen down on the Middle Road.
Again, you are being urged to avoid the area if you can.
Two trees are down on the Middle Road , 1 near Calbourne Mill , 1 near Chessell Pottery. Our crews are on their way to clear them. Please avoid the area until then if you can.

Island Roads says it will continue to work throughout the night using snow ploughs where needed.
Gritters have been out since 2pm, according to the firm.
A spokesperson said:
“We will do our best to keep roads open but we may need to close some roads for safety reasons.”
Vehicles have also been ‘clearing and treating’ the Arreton Downs Road from the Hare and Hounds pub to Brading and Ashey.
