Sandown High Street has been partially closed this morning (Friday) due to a “dangerous structure.”

The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service says it was called at around 11 o’clock.

Slate and masonry have fallen off a roof into the road, according to a service spokesperson.

One appliance and an aerial ladder are at the incident.

*The road is shut between Albert Road and Victoria Road.

Southern Vectis says its routes 2, 3 and 8 to Newport are affected.

A diversion is in place via Avenue Road, the Broadway to Melville Street on to Beachfield Road.
