A famous Christmas lights display in Newport has raised thousands of pounds for Isle of Wight causes.

Set-up by Island couple Terry and Sue Ramplin, the Long Lane display has taken place for the past 19 years.

More than £30,000 has been raised during that period – and 2018’s event continued in that fashion.

Terry says funds raised “exceeded all expectations”:

“Again, this is the most money I’ve ever raised this year, which is £5,000. This was my 19th year of doing these Christmas lights on the Isle of Wight.

“This coming year will be my 20th year, if I can I think I will try to do it for the 20 years.”

The money raised this time around has gone to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance as well as Daisy Chain.

Terry presented the cheques to both organisations on Tuesday (5).
