Police investigating an ‘assault’ on an officer in Cowes say they want to speak to a motorcyclist who fled the incident.

As reported by Isle of Wight Radio, a policeman suffered an injury to his eye on Wednesday (13), but no permanent damage was caused.

It came after the officer attempted to detain a man under the Misuse of Drugs Act in the town’s Pallance Road.

The man who assaulted the officer left the scene on a motorcycle, according to police.

Hampshire Constabulary says it wants to talk the individual – who was seen ‘wearing a distinctive pink and black SHOEI helmet.

Officers say the man is described as:

  • White.
  • Aged in his late teens or early twenties.
  • Slim build.
  • He had blonde or brown coloured hair
  • His face had pitted skin around the beard line.
  • He was wearing a dark jacket, grey Nike tracksuit bottoms.
