Isle of Wight residents are being warned of a new People’s Postcode Lottery scam circulating across the Island.
Trading Standards says letters are being sent to Islanders purporting to be from the lottery.
The letters are ‘very official’ looking and claim residents have won hundreds of thousands of pounds.
They also request a ‘processing fee’ at the end of the letter and, according to Trading Standards, this is how the scam can be spotted.
Islanders are being urged to remember two key rules:
- If you have not bought a ticket you cannot win
- You should never have to send money to receive your winnings
If unsure, contact the Postcode Lottery directly on 0808 109 8765.
