The £100,000 target to build a new cancer centre on the Isle of Wight has been hit!
The final push to raise £6,000 has been met by kindhearted Islanders and businesses.
Yesterday (Wednesday) Islanders – including Level 42’s Mark King and Olympic gold medallist Shirley Robertson – donned their lycra to take part in a 12-hour cyclethon.
Today, just £600 was needed – and now that has been reached!
The Wessex Cancer Trust facility will mean people on the Island suffering from cancer – and their families – will be able to visit to receive support and guidance in a safe environment.
Lorraine White from the Wessex Cancer Trust, said:
“I can’t believe we’ve done it!
“I have to say a massive thank you to every single person and business who has donated to this very important cause.
“The new cancer centre will be there in Lugley Street in Newport to support Islanders and their families.
