Prompted by the sudden death of a friend, an Isle of Wight woman is taking on a 70-mile mission for a potentially life-saving piece of kit.

Sheran Brown will begin her epic walk this morning (Saturday), following the Isle of Wight coastal path from Seaview as she tries to raise £2,000 for a defibrillator for the town..

It is a cause close to Sheran’s heart, she told Isle of Wight Radio:

“A friend of mine tragically passed away suddenly at his son’s wedding and I was involved with the aftermath of that, and it made me think ‘I want to raise money for a defibrillator.”

“It was totally out of the blue. He was a guy that did a lot of fundraising himself – cycled to Paris and London for various good causes so I feel like taking on this it’s sort of honouring his memory really.”

Once bought, the defibrillator will be donated to The Pavillion, which is used by sports clubs like Seaview Football Club, and for community events including the Seaview Regatta.

The entire surrounding community will be able to access the machine 24/7 in the event of an emergency occurring.
