Ryde Academy pupils have scooped themselves a podium place at the Global Rock Challenge Southern Premier Final.
Their performance, titled Standing Where Her Shadow Fell told the story of factory-bound slaves serving the rich and wealthy:
“Suffering, deprived and starving, Giselle’s community are factory-bound slaves serving the rich and wealthy. Although promised to a narcissistic aristocrat Hilarion, Giselle’s heart belongs to Albrecht who following her death, sacrifices himself in an act of true love. A ‘ghost’ factory is revealed where Giselle and her community have labored and died. Grieving for Giselle, Albrecht plots his ultimate revenge.”
It earned them third place on Saturday (27), as well as awards for their set design, excellence of drama and concept, among others.
