A man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence in Sandown.

Officers were called just after 10pm last night (Thursday) to reports of a man with a weapon on Leed Street in Sandown.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson said:

“Specialist officers carried out enquiries in the area and an air rifle was later recovered.

“A 59 year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.

“He remains in custody at this time.”
