Protesters have gathered outside County Hall in Newport this evening (Wednesday).
Campaigners say they are ‘making a stand’ against the potential roll-out of 5G across the UK.
It has been dubbed as the next generation of wireless mobile connections, following on from 4G.
Earlier this year, Vodafone revealed to Isle of Wight Radio that it was getting the Island 5G ready.
Those in Newport tonight are concerned it could have an adverse effect on public health and the environment.
Banners and signs reading ‘stop 5G’ are aloft – and campaigners in Newport are in full voice.
A Full Council meeting is due to take place at County Hall from 6pm.
