He stepped in to host the Graham Norton Show on Friday night (17) and Jack Whitehall took the opportunity the tell everyone a hilarious story about his mum’s first visit to the Isle of Wight Festival – and meeting Peter Crouch.
Peter, the former Portsmouth, Southampton and England striker, met the comedian’s mum, Hilary, while partying at the Seaclose Park event.
Jack explained how he was shocked when he received a couple of pictures from his mum – who was at her first ever festival – including one with the 6ft 7in striker.
“Peter Crouch, you’ve had a night out with my mum – at the Isle of Wight Festival. I wasn’t sure you would remember it.
“It was so weird, she went to a festival for the first time ever. She went on her own!
“I received some pictures and a message saying, ‘I’m with Peter Crouch! I thought, ‘I hope she’s not bothering you!’. Then I got another one 12 hours later!”
Peter, 38, – a regular at the Isle of Wight Festival with his wife Abbey Clancy, joked:
“She was really going for it – she is a lovely lady! It was a great night!”
Peter was a guest on the show alongside Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie, Beauty and the Beast actor Luke Evans, and comedian and Britain’s Got Talent host David Walliams.
