Broken lifts at the Isle of Wight’s St Mary’s Hospital have meant that some patients are not being treated on its St Helen’s Ward.

The Isle of Wight’s NHS Trust says “a small number” had to be moved at the weekend to a different ward and says the work to fix the problem will take another 7-10 days.

The Trust told Isle of Wight Radio,

“A small number of patients were moved at the weekend from St Helen’s ward to Compton ward as a precaution and we have engineers working on the lift to resolve the fault.”

Meanwhile, not all the phones at the hospital are working due to continuing problems. Islanders are urged to call the switchboard 01983 822099 and ask for a ward.
