A power cut has hit hundreds of homes and businesses in Shanklin and Lake.

There are 63 affected postcode areas in PO36 and PO37.

The fault was recorded at 9.14am.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks says it hopes to have power restored by 12pm.

*SSE says at 9.14am a fault occurred on its mains network causing 995 properties in the PO36 and PO37 postcode area to lose power.

The company says the majority of customers were restored within an hour and is working to restore power to the remaining 234 customers – and expects to have power restored by 1pm today.

A spokesperson from Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks said:

“We would like to apologise to our customers whose supplies have been interrupted by this power cut and assure them we are working to restores power as safely and as quickly as possible.”
