A festival dedicated to wellbeing and self-care is joining forces with the new family festival – The Great Wonderfest – to curate an holistic wellbeing retreat experience.
The Awakening Retreat at The Great Wonderfest is described as inspirational ‘festival within a festival’, providing the ultimate nurturing space for energising, healing and unwinding.
The escapist paradise nestled within an ancient woodland is where festival goers will be able to indulge in some ‘me time’ with a range of activities from talks and sessions to masterclasses, workshops and therapies.
The Awakening Retreat will consist of multiple curated spaces, as well as Swedish Hot Tubs, massage, hammocks under the ancient oak trees, and therapy pods with a wonderful range of treatments on offer.
The Awakening Sessions Stage will play host to inspiring talks including ‘Spark Conversations’ and ‘Tent Talks’ focused on conscious living and wellbeing topics. Special guest speakers will include author and food blogger Emily Leary who will be sharing inspiration from her book ‘How to Get Your Kids to Eat Anything’, and DJ legend and Life Coach Brandon Block who will be sharing his experiences and recommendations for living ‘Happy Days’.
The Awakening Sessions will keep minds and hearts filled throughout the day, including morning mindfulness sessions for kids and adults as well as interactive and fun goal mapping sessions with Brian Mayne, alongside practical Self Care Sessions from aromatherapy to creating family vision boards.
Brandon Block said:
“As our Tent Talks evolve, we are more than excited to be teaming up with the Awakening Retreat for The Great Wonderfest, in the beautiful and spiritual Isle of Wight. I’ll be giving talks on Saturday and our team will be there throughout offering workshops, one-to-one sessions and interactive talks – spreading the word of wellbeing and raising awareness and consciousness throughout the nation.”
Kate Taylor, curator of The Awakening, said:
“I’m delighted to be bringing The Awakening experience to the joyful Great Wonderfest. Blending The Awakening’s programme of wellbeing, self care, holistic and mindfulness sessions will give both adults and families the chance to create fun summer memories and take home the wellbeing practices they learn to be able to apply them to every day life.
“Curating this experience within a family festival means we get to share some of the incredibly important self care and wellbeing practices and expertise to both adults and kids, and everyone will have a huge amount of fun doing it.”
Also within this tranquil field of wonder sits The Awakening Studio, a programmed arena of active and relaxation sessions including yoga, movement sessions, meditation masterclasses, Qoya for families, an introduction to hypnobirthing, acro dance workshops, pilates, aerial yoga, and even a yoga dance rave so you can get your Om on!
Throughout the weekend there will be creative mindfulness magic sessions for younger ones to make their own superpower wands, dream catchers and weaving gratitudes under The Awakening Retreat Magical Mandala Tree.
There will also be a special performance of modern fable Enki by Alex Lambie, helping us to engage with the power of compassion and even a motivational talk based around the song titles from Great Wonderfest’s Sunday headline act, Busted!
The Self Care programme also includes some luxury with a variety of holistic treatments, the Indulge Me Pamper Lounge, a Unicorn Day hosted by Pat A Pony Therapy Ponies, Cloud Massage Therapists, Relax IOW’s Reflexology and Pregnancy Message and a Glitter Bar Beauty Salon for the full retreat and revive experience.
