The Isle of Wight’s Alzheimer’s café is to receive a royal award today (Wednesday).

Altogether, the scheme runs eight cafés on the Isle of Wight – three in Newport and one in Ryde, Totland, Ventnor, Sandown and Cowes.

It has been set-up to provide support for those with Alzheimer’s Disease.

As previously reported by Isle of Wight Radio, it was honoured with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service last month (June).

Lord Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight, Susie Sheldon, will hand it over at a ceremony this afternoon.

It will take place at Northwood House at around 3pm.
