Isle of Wight Council officers are recommending that plans for 57 houses on land at St Helens be refused, when planning committee members meet on Tuesday at County Hall.
The properties are proposed for a field called Guildford Camp, behind the primary school and community centre.
In a report to planning councillors, officers say that although there is a need for housing on the Isle of Wight,
“…On balance the harm which would result from the development in respect of highway safety and the historic environment would be too significant and would result in an unsustainable form of development.”
A decision will be made at 4pm on Tuesday, at a meeting in the Council Chamber.
