Swimmers will be braving the elements for The Ian Pratt MND Foundation, to raise awareness and money for Motor Neurone Disease.
This year 54 swimmers will make the journey over the weekend (26 and 27 July) from Players Beach in Ryde to Stokes Bay, south of Gosport, then back again.
It’s hoped the event will raise between £35,000- £40,000 for research into the disease, which currently has no cure, whilst also supporting people who have it and their families.
Since it started, the swim has had 205 successful crossings.
A team of kayakers are needed to assist the swimmers and to find out how you can take part click here.
Organiser and CEO of the Ian Pratt MND Foundation is Tony Bray, who has taken on the challenge 11 times, and spoke to Isle of Wight Radio.
