Isle of Wight residents are being warned about a WhatsApp scam circulating around the Island.
The HMRC says scammers now appear to be using the messaging platform to try to con tax payers out of money.
Texts are offering tax refunds to Islanders.
However, the HMRC says it will never use WhatsApp to contact people about anything.
Taxpayers who receive any such messages should email the details to [email protected], then delete it.
For further information about potential tax scams the HMRC has published guidance on HMRC-related phishing emails and bogus contacts, which you can view here: https://bit.ly/2JzYv9I.
