Three emergency service teams are preparing to ‘escape’ the Isle of Wight and go on the run – for charity.
Teams from the fire service, police and ambulance service will disappear for 50 hours as they travel as far away from the Island as possible, with zero planning, and compete in a ‘Blue Light Breakout’ – in aid of The Wight Brainy Bunch.
The teams will consist of two off duty personnel from the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, Ambulance service and Hampshire Constabulary who have volunteered their time to take part in the challenge to support firefighter Mark Grimes, who founded the charity following his diagnosis of a brain tumour in 2015.
The event is supported by Novum Law, Maher Ross and DDC Electronics, along with many other local businesses, who have kindly sponsored the event to ensure the teams can be repatriated to the Island following their two-day challenge. The event is also being supported by Isle of Wight Radio.
Teams will be tracked throughout the event – which starts on September 12 – with the public encouraged to support and vote for their chosen team via TEXT DONATE. The winning team will be the pair who travels the furthest in the given time.
If any local businesses would also like to sponsor the event, please contact the charity on:
