A cliff collapse in Luccombe has prompted a call-out from Isle of Wight emergency service teams this afternoon (Wednesday).

The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, Ventnor Coastguard, the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and Hampshire Constabulary were all called to to the far-end of Shanklin Esplanade just before 12pm.

A spokesperson for the fire service says they were called to an area of the beach:

“Portions of the cliff fell down onto the beach. There are no reports of any injuries. We attended for safety cover.”

Thermal imaging cameras have been used to check under fallen rubble.

No people have been hurt, according to the fire service.
