There are just a few hours until three off-duty teams from the Isle of Wight’s emergency services go on the run for charity in the first ever Bluelight Breakout.
Pairs of teams from the fire service (Mark Grimes and Ross Smallcombe), ambulance service (Lynsey Groves and Alasdair Hay) and police (Iain Lane and Tom Ramsay) are hoping to travel as far as they can away from the Island – in the space of 50 hours.
They will leave from Isle of Wight Radio in Newport at 10am on Thursday (September 12).
The three teams have no money and will need to beg and blag their way as far as possible.
The event is supported by Novum Law, Maher Ross and DDC Electronics, along with many other local businesses, who have sponsored the event to ensure the teams can be repatriated to the Island following their two-day challenge.
The event has been organised by Kathryn and Mark Grimes – founders of the Wight Brainy Bunch charity in 2015 – after Mark was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
