Charles Bruzon, HoverCare Ambassador at Hovertravel and Hiilda Hayo, Chief Admiral Nurse and Chief Executive Officer for Dementia UK

A Chief Admiral Nurse and CEO of Dementia UK has been answering questions during a coffee morning at Hovertravel in Ryde.

Hilda Hayo visited the terminal to help raise awareness of  those living with dementia and to help Hovertravel’s fundraising event.

Loretta Lale, Head of Commercial at Hovertravel, said:

“To have Hilda as our guest of honour at our coffee morning for Dementia UK Admiral Nurses for the Isle of Wight  boosted donations and raised awareness of the amazing work done by the Admiral Nurses.

“We registered more Isle of Wight residents for our HoverCare card  and encouraged open discussions about dementia with a broad cross section of customers, staff and visitors.”

The HoverCare card provides a discount for patients, hospital visitors and NHS professionals travelling to work.

Hovertravel customers can request a HoverCare card which will indicate whether they require help with luggage, are a lip reader, whether they need to be seated, or would like help boarding the hovercraft. The card can also, if the customer wishes, show that the holder has reduced mobility, autism, dementia, reduced vision or impaired hearing.
