Outline plans for up to forty houses next to Palmers Farm in Wootton will be considered by the Isle of Wight Council’s planning councillors on Tuesday and are recommended for approval, subject to the payment of money to the community.
The scheme is proposed for a 4.5 hectares site north of Wootton Bridge and the papers due to be presented to the local authority’s planing committee will require a section 106 payment.
Two versions of the plans have been submitted, both with 10 detached houses on the eastern part of the site and 30 in the northern field. They differ in how the houses are laid out.
The site would be accessed off Palmers Road, via a new roundabout between the junction of Palmers Road and the currently unmade Church Road.
Wootton Bridge Parish Council has objected to the scheme, citing a lack of space in the local school and impact on amenities.
In addition, 73 letters of objection were received during the original consultation and 53 were received subsequently.
