Shanklin mayors – past and present – joined the celebrations with the cast of The Beyond the West End on the 10th anniversary of the Summer Show.

Trustees and Volunteers from Shanklin Theatre also joined to present a framed certificate and Birthday Cake to the cast.

Spotlight members have performed it for the last decade, featuring past and present hits from popular Musicals and Shows, capturing magical moments and movie memories, as well as humourous highlights such as the Full Monty.

Shanklin Mayor, Steve Knight, said:

“Jayne and the cast of the show have entertained thousands of visitors and residents over the last 10 years, as well as providing opportunities for local talent, and they are a credit to Shanklin and all involved with the Theatre.”

Spotlight are also responsible for the Christmas Panto, this year Aladdin, alongside dance and drama workshops, and working with First Act.

Former mayors, John Fleming, Denyse Larner and Jon Gilbey, added:

“The whole cast and crew has brought family friendly foot-tapping fun to audiences across the years and across the generations, and every year the show gets better and better.”

Jayne Derbyshire was presented with a certificate signed by all the Mayors since 2009, a special 10th cake and celebratory bottle of champagne.

Steve concluded:

“Congratulations to all involved with Beyond the West End, and we all look forward to the next 10 years and beyond!”
